A pregnant woman’s water breaking sparked a chain reaction that ended with a man critically injured in a nightclub shootout, Kansas City police said.
The pregnant woman, who has not been identified, was dancing at the E.B. Bar & Grill when he water broke early Saturday.
Police said the woman’s situation caused people to make ‘unkind comments’ which then led to an argument between two groups of men.
The argument ended in a shooting outside the club in which gunfire was exchanged between a group on the street and a group in an SUV.
A 40-year-old man was hit and injured at 12:40 a.m. Another man not involved in the fight was hit by a bullet in the buttock as he sat in his vehicle.

Police found the critically wounded 40-year-old in the street. Witnesses said his friends had been yelling ‘Shoot! Shoot! Shoot!’
Officers were able to stop the fleeing SUV and gang-squad investigators later recovered a gun near 27th and Main streets, and assume someone tossed it from the car as the men attempted to escape.
The U.S. attorney’s office filed a felon-in-possession charge against Cyrano R. Irons, 23, alleging he fired a .40 caliber gun from the SUV.
Irons was on probation in Missouri for aggravated assault. .
